4th of July

I had a wonderful 4th of July.  It was very relaxed, but fun.  This year we skipped going to a firework show because the teenagers decided they didn't want to. Instead we stayed inside with my boyfriend, his dad, and then his two teen aged brothers.

Overall it was a nice day spending some time with all of the animals and meeting Miss Abby who is so loveable even though she came from a bad home!  She is very smart and just wants to have some fun!

What did everyone else do for the 4th of July?

4th of July Party Pack Review!

Ohhh, how I wish we were still doing summer family reunions.  I know many people have family get together's and family reunions around the 4th of July.  It is a way to celebrate family and our country.

I was given the opportunity to review these 4th of July Games and share it with you.  This is something that children and adults will both love!   I was thinking about these little games and I think they would have been perfect when I was growing up!  Every 4th of July we had a block party and I can remember all of the neighbor kids driving the parents crazy!

There were a lot of neighbor kids from anywhere to a couple years older than me to 5 years younger which meant lots of little kids running around all over the place.  I think the only time we were all some what calm was when we were allowed to play with sparklers.

My sister and I would have loved the Mad Libs not just for the 4th of July but for road trips we were always looking for new ones and the Mad Libs in this one were fun!  I made my boyfriend fill them out with me.  These weren't the only thing that was fun.  I ran through the trivia questions one my own, with my boyfriend, and my boss. (Lol!)  It was a lot of fun and I noticed we all knew different things (though Mr. Smartypants knew more than anyone else! My boyfriend knows way too many random facts about everything).

I admit I might bring it whereever we are for the 4th of July this year and torture (hem. I didn't say that. :) )... I mean play these games with my boyfriends teenaged brothers eventhough I know they won't want to play with me!

**Disclaimer**
Some of these games are intended for children while others are intended for adults.  Keep this in mind when purchasing as you will not want to include all of these games into play when children are around.

Independence Day Trivia game
Independence Day Mad Libs

BMotG Birthday Bash: Party Hat Giveaway

I was very excited when I saw the creative hats at My Kayla Rose's Etsy Boutique. Bonnie's designs are so fun and playful that I really wanted to incorporate one of them into Emily's birthday party! I chose the zebra print with the hot pink feather boa detail around the base and on the top. I think this hat is a wonderfully girly design that brings a small amount of flashiness to the party.

So far, Emily has been exceptionally interested in the hat, just not on her head! She had so much fun playing the game of pulling the hat off of her head that I could not help, but snap pictures in between laughing at how much fun she was having!! I can just imagine when she gets older and wants to play dress-up how much fun she will have with this hat added to her dress-up collection.

Bonnie at My Kayla Rose offers a nice variety of hats for any celebration including Mini Mouse hats too (adorable!). The material she used to make the zebra hat for Emily is a very soft fabric and she tied a pretty pink ribbon, that if Emily's willing, I could tie into a pretty bow to keep the hat in place. And for Busy Mom on the Go readers Bonnie has generously offered a 10% off coupon code to her store using code: Kayla.

Party Planning Checklists Review

I was given the opportunity to review the "Party Planning Checklists" that Theme Party Queen has written.  This Party Planning Guide was really helpful to me.  I do not throw a lot of parties, but when I do I always stress wanting everything perfect.  I have slight OCD tendencies.

This book covers the main things you need to stay organized.  It first hits on the recipes that you will be using for the party.  Organizing them by category.

The next thing that it covers is when you will be preparing each dish.  I hadn't ever thought about planning this out.  Planning when you make the dishes is smart so that everything is not being made the night before (which is something that I often do).

After this the next checklist it covers is for a grocery list.  Laying out all of the ingredients that will need to be purchased for each recipe.

Finally, the book covers the table layout as well as other necessary items throughout the house.  This is probably my favorite part of the book because I can make everything crazy neat and organized.

You can check out her stuff on her website, Facebook, Twitter, and on Pintrest.
